System of recirculation of the fulfilled gases (EGR)

In case of damage or a detachment of an electromagnet of control of the EGR valve there is a loss of an electric signal and the EGR valve is stopped in open situation during the whole time of warming up and functioning of the engine. Symptoms of such situation are decrease in overall performance of the engine, violation of stability of turns of idling and emergence of the problems connected with operation of the car.

General description

The EGR systems it is applied only on the 5.2 l engines. A task it is decrease in issue in the atmosphere of nitrogen oxides (NOh) due to return of a part of the fulfilled gases via the EGR valve and the inlet pipeline in combustion chambers.

EGR valves and the electronic EGR (EET) transmitter on engines of 5.2 l.

The system of recirculation of the fulfilled gases consists of the EGR valve, the counter-pressure transmitter with the electromagnetic valve of management of EGR (EET), the electronic module of management (RSM) and various sensors. RSM is programmed at an optimum size of opening of the EGR valve under any service conditions of the engine. The sensor of extent of opening of the EGR valve determines height of raising of the EGR valve and sends the corresponding signals to RSM. RSM compares the obtained information to data on optimum opening of the valve which are defined on the basis of the analysis of the signals received from other sensors. If between these sizes there is a divergence, RSM gives the command for operation of the electromagnetic valve of management for the purpose of reduction of depth of the depression enclosed to the EGR valve.



  1. Start the engine and warm up it up to the normal working temperature.
  2. Check all hoses and tubes of the EGR system for existence of signs of leaks, cracks, twistings and traces of aging of material. Before passing to valve check of EGR it is necessary to be convinced of sufficiency of a condition of hoses unambiguously.
  3. Check correctness of laying of vacuum hoses of the EGR system (The section the General information). In case of need make corrections.
  4. Disconnect a vacuum hose from the EGR valve and instead of it connect the manual vacuum pump.
  1. Create depression directly on the EGR valve and make sure that the diaphragm of the valve moves up-down freely, without zakusyvaniye signs - when applying depression the engine has to become deaf.
  1. Start the engine and create depression of 127 mm of mercury in depth on the valve. Idling turns at the same time have to fall considerably, up to an engine stop that speaks about serviceability of functioning of the EGR system.
  2. If changes in the frequency of rotation of the engine are not observed, it can be a sign of failure of the EGR valve, violation of passability of a tube of EGR or channels in the inlet pipeline or a final collector (the last can be caused by accumulation of coal deposits).
  3. Create depression on the EGR valve and observe the course of its rod. If the valve opens and closed normally, and the engine does not become deaf, check channels.
  4. Connect the vacuum gage to the vacuum line of the electronic EGR (EET) transmitter, start the engine and make sure that on the EET valve depression of the required depth is created.
  1. Measure depression depth on the EET valve at the working engine.
  1. Also make sure available on battery tension EET at the included ignition (a key in position of ON, the engine is not started).
  1. At the included ignition (and not started engine) on the EET valve battery tension has to take place.
  1. Pick up the phone of EGR and check whether there are no violations of passability of ports in the pipeline or a collector, whether tubes are deformed and whether any other malfunctions take place. In case of need replace EGR tube.

If the EGR valve is strongly hammered with coal deposits, do not try to scratch out them - replace the valve.

  1. Pick up the phone of EGR and check it for violation of passability and existence of damages.

  1. Disunite the electric socket of the electromagnetic valve of management of EGR (EET).
  2. Give two fixing nuts and remove the EGR valve. The valve is removed the uniform block with EET.
  1. Give two bolts (arrow) in the EGR valve basis.
  1. Smooth out the interfaced surfaces of the EGR valve and a nozzle.
  2. Install the EGR valve, having replaced its laying. Strongly tighten fixture.
  3. Connect the electric socket.

Electromagnet of management of EET


  1. Disunite the EET electric socket.
  2. Disconnect the vacuum hoses connecting EET to the EGR valve.
  3. Take EET from a motive compartment.
  4. You make installation upside-down.
