Check of serviceability and replacement of the regulator of pressure of fuel

See the prevention at the beginning of the Section Procedure of Dumping of Pressure of Fuel.


Models of 1995 of the issue are equipped with pressure regulator which is built in in the block of the fuel pump / fuel level sensor (see an illustration) therefore on these models there is a possibility of check only of the adjusted fuel pressure.

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dump pressure in a power supply system (Section Procedure of Dumping of Pressure of Fuel).
  2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  3. Install the manometer (Section Check of Pressure of Fuel and Functioning of the Fuel Pump).
  4. Start the engine and check it for leaks around nipple connections of the manometer.
  5. Walk on a vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator to the inlet pipeline. Disconnect a hose from the pipeline and connect the vacuum gage to its union. Start the engine and make sure available depression. Remove the vacuum gage and connect into place a hose.
  6. Disconnect a vacuum hose from the regulator of pressure of fuel and connect instead of it the manual vacuum pump. Consider indications of the manometer in the presence of depression on the regulator and in the absence of that (see the illustrations "Connect the Vacuum Pump..." and "... and then having created it..."). With increase in depth of depression pressure of fuel has to fall. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications.
  7. Connect a vacuum hose to the regulator and measure fuel pressure at single turns of the engine, again having compared results to requirements of Specifications. Disconnect a vacuum hose and track change by pressure - it has to jump up to the maximum admissible value immediately after a detachment hoses. If changes in indications of the manometer did not happen, replace the regulator.
  8. If pressure of fuel is too low, press the line of return of fuel (installation of a special flexible insert as the line can be metal perhaps will be required) and track change of indications of the manometer. If pressure did not rise, the fuel pump is faulty or passability of the line of supply of fuel is broken. In case of sharp pressure jump replace the regulator.
  9. If the measured pressure of fuel is excessively high, stop the engine and dump pressure in a power supply system (Section Procedure of Dumping of Pressure of Fuel). Disconnect the line of return of fuel and blow it, checking for passability. If passability of the line is not broken, replace pressure regulator.

Replacement

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dump pressure in a power supply system (Section Procedure of Dumping of Pressure of Fuel).
  2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  3. Disconnect vacuum and fuel hoses from pressure regulator, then give bolts of its fastening.
  1. Give fixing bolts (shooters) (the 5.2 l engine is shown) and...

... remove pressure regulator from the fuel highway.

  1. Remove the regulator.
  2. You make installation upside-down. Do not forget to replace a sealing ring. Before installation oil a new ring pure motive.
  3. After completion of installation of the regulator check system for existence of leak of fuel.
