General information

System cooling of the engine

All models of cars considered in this manual are equipped with the cooling system which is under pressure with thermostatic management of circulation of a cooler. Rotor type the water pump fixed on a forward part of the block pumps over a cooler through the engine. The stream of a cooler washes each of cylinders and moves to a back part of the engine. The water galleries formed in casting of the block and a head(s) of cylinders provide distribution of a cooler and its giving to final ports, to areas of installation of spark plugs and an arrangement of the directing plugs of final valves. In the cooling system of 6-cylinder engines the water pump of reversive type is used (with rotation in the opposite direction).

The thermostat of voskozapolnenny type is placed in the case and fixed in a forward part of the engine. In the course of warming up of the engine the thermostat is closed and prevents circulation of a cooler through a radiator. At approach of temperature of the engine to normal working value the thermostat opens, providing pass of a cooler through a radiator where it cools down before returning to the engine.

Sealing of the cooling system is provided by means of installation of the cover maintaining elevated pressure on a radiator. Excessive pressure in system provides increase in a boiling point of a cooler and improves efficiency of functioning of system. At excessive increase in pressure under its pressure there is an opening of the sprung safety valve in a cover and or excessive pressure is dumped in the atmosphere (the cover established on a broad tank on the 4.0 l 6-cylinder engines), or the cooler flows on a connecting tube in a broad tank.

The broad tank plays a double role. It is used as the capacity where the fresh cooler is in case of need added and at the same time provides support of the required liquid level in system, working as a receiver on reception of the cooler extending at an overheat. On the 4.0 l 6-cylinder engines the broad tank is a part being under pressure of a path of the cooling system through which there is a circulation of a cooler in the course of normal functioning of the engine.

System of heating

The system of heating consists of the fan and the heat exchanger located in the heater case. The heat exchanger by means of hoses connects to the cooling system of the engine and a guard of control of the air heater/conditioner on the dashboard in interior of the car. The cooler warmed in the engine circulates via the heat exchanger. At inclusion of a heater in the mode of heating of salon its air gates open, providing connection of the case of a heater with interior of the car. By means of the switch on a guard of management the fan of a heater which drives air through the heat exchanger to interior of the car is activated, providing thereby its heating.

Air conditioning system

The air conditioning system consists of the radiator of the condenser, the evaporator located in the neighbourhood with the heat exchanger of the heater fixed on the engine of the compressor, the accumulator serving for accumulation of a liquid phase of coolant and a conclusion from system of excess of moisture, and also reinforcing lines connecting among themselves all listed above components established on a forward part.

The fan banishes the warmed air from interior of the car through the evaporator heat exchanger (working by the principle, the return principle of work of a radiator) where it gives the to the coolant which is warmly in the evaporator. Liquid coolant, beginning to boil, passes into a gaseous phase (evaporates) and, leaving the evaporator, takes away with itself warmth of phase transition.
