Reduction in the provision of VMT of a step of compression of the piston of the first cylinder

The Top Dead Point (TDP) is called the highest point of the piston stroke determined by rotation of a bent shaft. Each piston reaches VMT twice - at the end of a step of compression and, again, at the end of a release step, however, it is accepted to mean by the provision of VMT VMT of a step of compression. The distributive tags put on a damper of tortional fluctuations (see an illustration), the bent shaft established on a forward pin correspond to VMT of a step of compression of the piston of the first cylinder.

Reduction of pistons in the provision of VMT is a fundamental step at implementation of such procedures as removal of yokes, adjustment of valves, replacement of a distributive chain and asterisks and removal of the distributor.

In the provision of VMT it is necessary to make a provorachivaniye of a bent shaft for reduction of the piston of any of cylinders. For this purpose it is possible to use one of the methods offered below. If to look at the engine in front, rotation of a bent shaft clockwise is considered normal.

Before starting implementation of this procedure make sure that transmission is established in neutral situation and disconnect from the central plug of the distributor a coil wire for temporary inactivation of system of ignition.

  1. The method of a provorachivaniye of a bent shaft by means of the big replaceable face head which is put on the bolt of a damper of tortional fluctuations which is screwed in in an end face of a shaft and given to rotation by a collar is preferable.
  2. It is possible to use the remote switch of a starter that will allow to save time several. Connect switch wires to plugs S (Switch) and In (Battery) of a starter. Most close having brought the piston to the provision of VMT by means of the switch, finish the procedure in the way, offered in the previous point.
  3. If there is an opportunity to resort to the help of the assistant, the starter can be turned by short inclusions from the driver's place. After approach of the piston to VMT, the procedure comes to the end by means of a replaceable head (see point and)).

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remember position of the plug of a wire of a spark plug of the first cylinder on a distributor cover in relation to its case. For a guarantee put with a felt-tip pen or chalk on the distributor case directly under this plug the corresponding tag. Give fixing screws, uncover the distributor and take her aside.

Numbers of plugs are put on candle wires near the distributor where they also can be found if wires are established fabrichno. If numbers are absent, previously accurately mark wires.


  1. Having found the plug of a spark plug of the first cylinder on a distributor cover, put the corresponding tag located directly under this plug on the distributor case.
  1. Uncover the distributor (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance).
  2. Turn a bent shaft (see the item. "For reduction of the piston...") so that risk on its damper of tortional fluctuations it was combined with a zero mark in a distributive scale of a cover of a chain. The index or a tag of VMT and a damper are usually located in the lower part of a forward wall of the engine, near the pulley rotating a driving belt.
  1. Turn a bent shaft so that risk on a damper of tortional fluctuations (shooter) it appeared directly opposite to a zero mark of a scale in a cover of a distributive chain.
  1. Look at the distributor runner - its nose is is directly have to directed to the tag applied on the distributor case. If it not so, the piston of the first cylinder is in the provision of VMT of a step of release.
  1. Uncover the distributor and make sure that the runner will be turned a nose to a tag on the case (shooter).
  1. For reduction of the piston of the first cylinder in the provision of VMT of a step of compression turn a bent shaft on one whole revolution (360 °) clockwise. Now the nose of the runner has to turn towards a tag. When the runner is turned towards an arrangement of the plug of a spark plug of the first cylinder on a distributor cover (a tag on the case), and distributive tags are appropriately combined, the piston of the first cylinder is in the provision of VMT of a step of compression.
  2. After the piston of the first cylinder is given in VMT of a step of compression, the others can are transferred to the same situation by a consecutive provorachivaniye of a bent shaft on 180 ° and according to an ignition order (see Specifications).
