Removal, check of a state and installation of the camshaft, bearings and hydraulic pushers

Measurement of height of working ledges (rise) of cams of the camshaft

Check of height of working ledges of cams is made for the purpose of assessment of degree of wear of a shaft and carried out before removal of a shaft from the engine. Uncover a head of cylinders (The section Removal and installation of a cover of a head of cylinders).

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Bring the piston of the first cylinder into the provision of VMT of a step of compression (The section Reduction in the provision of VMT of a step of compression of the piston of the first cylinder).
  2. Since the first cylinder, fix the dial measuring instrument on the engine so that its plunger was coaxial to a bar of a pusher and rested against a yoke of the first piston.
  1. For check of height of raising of a cam the dial measuring instrument has to be fixed directly over a pusher bar, and its plunger - is coaxial to a bar.
  1. Nullify the measuring instrument and begin to turn very slowly the camshaft in the normal direction until the arrow of the device does not stand on the maximum indication and will not begin to fall back. The maximum indication of the measuring instrument corresponds to height of raising of a cam.
  2. Write down the indication, then return the piston to the provision of VMT of a step of compression.
  3. Install the measuring instrument over a yoke of the second valve of the first cylinder and repeat the procedure. Accurately write down results of all measurements.
  4. Repeat check for valves of the remained cylinders. As everyone their pistons during check has to be in the provision of VMT of a step of compression, pass from one of them to another simplest as ignition (see Specifications).
  5. Upon completion of measurements compare all results to requirements of the Specification. If raising of a cam appears less admissible value, the cam is worn-out and the camshaft is subject to replacement.

Removal of the camshaft

These models of cars are equipped with safety cushions. The pillow constantly is in readiness and can work (to be inflated) at any time at the connected battery. In order to avoid casual operation of system (and receiving as a result of a trauma) every time during the work with safety cushion components (including blow sensors which can be located near a forward lattice / bumper) disconnect a negative wire from the battery. After shutdown of the battery before getting to work it is necessary to wait not less than 2 minutes (the system is equipped with the delay condenser which has to be discharged completely). The air conditioning system constantly is under pressure. Do not weaken nipple connections of lines and do not disconnect systems, any of components, before carrying out its discharge. Coolant has to be extorted from system in special compensatory and recovery ERA-blok at the station of dealer office or in a specialized workshop of car service. At a rassoyedineniye of lines of system surely put on goggles!


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. If the car is equipped with the air conditioning system, make its discharge at the station of dealer office or in a specialized workshop of car service. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. Empty the cooling system, remove a radiator, the fan and its casing (The head of the Cooling system, heating and air conditioning).
  3. Remove a forward (radiator) lattice (Head Kuzov).
  4. On the models equipped with the conditioner of air remove the system condenser (The head of the Cooling system, heating and air conditioning).
  5. Mark and disconnect candle wires from spark plugs.
  6. Remove the distributor (The head Sistema of electric equipment of the engine).
  7. Remove a head of cylinders (The section Removal and installation of a head of cylinders).
  8. Remove hydraulic pushers and put them in an organized order so that at assembly they could be established on the former places.
  1. By means of the magnetic tool (as shown in a picture) or a special stripper take pushers.
  1. Remove a distributive chain with asterisks (The section Check of a State, removal and installation of a cover of a distributive chain, chain and its asterisks).
  2. Carefully take the camshaft. In quality to the handle in its end face the long bolt can be temporarily screwed in. In order to avoid damage of bearings when threading of shaft cams through them, support a shaft by the second hand.
  1. Slowly taking, support the camshaft by the second hand as it is possible closer to a block wall - for convenience in an end face of a shaft can the long bolt is screwed in.

Check of a state

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. After the camshaft is taken from the engine, it needs to be washed out in solvent and to dry up, then to check necks of bearings for existence of cavities, traces of jamming and uneven wear. If necks are injured, perhaps injured also inserts of the corresponding bearings in the block. In this case both the shaft, and inserts are subject to replacement.
  2. If necks are found in satisfactory condition, measure by a micrometer their diameters. Write down results of measurements. Measurement of diameter has to be performed in several points of each neck (both on neck length, and on its forming surface) - it will help to reveal its ovality and conicity.
  3. Measure the internal diameter of each of bearings by means of a telescopic nutromer and a micrometer. Subtract diameters of the corresponding necks from diameters of bearings. The result will correspond to the size of gaps in bearings.
  4. Compare results of calculations to requirements of Specifications. If the gap of any of bearings exceeds admissible value, it is necessary to address in a workshop of car service for replacement of bearings.
  5. Examine a driving gear wheel of the distributor on existence of signs of wear. In case of detection of those replace the camshaft.
  6. Check shaft cams for existence of traces of an overheat (sites with the changed coloring), zadir, chips, cavities and traces of uneven wear. If cams are found in satisfactory condition, and results of measurements of height of their working ledges meet requirements of Specifications, the camshaft is subject to further use.
  7. Carrying out replacement of bearings of the camshaft demands use of special tools and existence of certain experience, the poet lies outside qualification of the average amateur mechanic. Remove the engine and deliver the block for high-quality implementation of the procedure in a workshop of car service.

If there are signs of strong friction of the camshaft about a cover of a distributive chain, first of all check a condition of his persistent finger with a spring, then check passability of openings of dumping of pressure of oil in a back neck of a shaft.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Grease necks and cams and necks of a shaft with assembly motive lubricant.
  2. Insert a shaft into the engine. Try to support reliably a shaft in the course of installation in order to avoid damage of bearings when threading of cams through them.
  3. You make installation of the remained components as it should be, the return to an order of their removal.

The camshaft and hydraulic pushers have to correspond each other on the nature of wear therefore in case of replacement of a shaft, in obligatory it is necessary to replace also pushers.

  1. Before start of the engine replace motive oil and an oil filter (The head Nastroyki and routine maintenance).
  2. If during repair the new camshaft and hydraulic pushers were installed, the engine has to be warmed up to the normal working temperature and is left working for some time (15 - 20 minutes) on turns of bystry idling for extra earnings of components. After that it is necessary to replace oil and an oil filter again.
