Check of level of liquid of automatic transmission (each 400 km (250 miles) of a run or weekly)

Level of AT liquid has to be supported constantly carefully. Insufficient level of transmission liquid can be the reason of "skidding" of transmission or its soskakivaniye from transfer while overflow of transmission leads to foaming of liquid and its leaks.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Having cocked the parking brake, start the engine, then serially carry out the selector lever through all provisions, having finished on situation "N" (Neutral). Check of level of transmission liquid has to be made on the car parked on the flat horizontal platform and at the engine working at single turns.

Results cannot be considered reliable if check of level of transmission liquid was made directly after a long trip with high speeds of the movement in hot weather in the conditions of an intense city cycle or towage of the trailer. In such cases before starting check wait for cooling of transmission liquid (within not less than 30 minutes).

  1. After a transmission warming up up to the normal working temperature take the measuring probe from a jellied tube. The probe is located in a back part of a motive compartment.

The probe of measurement of level of AT liquid is located in a back part of a motive compartment (the V8 engine is shown, on 6 cylinder engines the probe is from the opposite side).

  1. Carefully check to the touch liquid temperature on a probe edge - define it is warm or hot. Wipe a probe edge with pure rags and enter the probe back into a jellied tube before full landing of a cover.
  2. Again take the probe and check on it liquid level.
  3. If liquid is to the touch warm, its level has to be between two bends of an edge of the probe. Level of hot liquid has to be in the region of the shaded part of an edge, near mark MOVE. If it is necessary to make adjustment of level of liquid, having added you make directly in a tube, for convenience having used a funnel. Rise in level from the lower part of the shaded site to mark MOVE in a probe edge at hot transmission requires liquid slightly more than a halfliter. Having added you make gradually, constantly checking level.
  4. Along with the level of liquid it is also necessary to check and its state. If the liquid moistening the end of an edge of the probe has dark red-brown color or smells of ashes, it should be replaced. In case of lack of confidence in definition of a condition of liquid, compare it on color and a smell to specially acquired fresh.
