Hoses, as well as driving belts, tend to fail at the most inappropriate moment - in order to avoid the troubles connected with unforeseen delays in way, make check of a condition of hoses as it is possible more carefully, using the map of the most typical defects provided here.

General information

Replacement of hoses of the air conditioning system has to be left to specialists of dealer office or the specialized workshops of car service having the equipment necessary for a safe discharge of system at the order. Do not remove any components of system at all and do not disconnect hoses before carrying out dumping of pressure.

High temperatures in a motive compartment can be a cause of destruction of material of the rubber and plastic hoses used in operation of the engine, auxiliary units and systems of decrease in toxicity of the fulfilled gases. Hoses should be checked regularly for existence of cracks, signs of weakening of collars, hardenings of material and traces of leaks. Some, but not everything, hoses fasten on unions by means of collars. There where collars are applied, check reliability of their tightening on which the prevention of emergence of leaks depends. If collars are not used, track that the hose was not expanded and/or hardened on the site which is put on the union that usually is the cause of leak.

Vacuum hoses

Use of a color code or introduction in their walls of color strips is characteristic of identification of the vacuum hoses which are especially applied in systems of decrease in toxicity of the fulfilled gases. Various systems demand application of vacuum hoses of various thickness of walls on which the resilience to a collapse as a result of internal depression and to influence of the increased temperatures depends. When replacing vacuum hoses you watch compliance of material and a design new removed from the engine.

Often, the only effective way of check of a condition of a vacuum hose there is its full removal from the car. If more than one hose are subject to removal, take care previously of their accurate marking for the purpose of the correct installation at assembly.

Checking a condition of vacuum hoses do not forget as well about plastic tees. Check them for existence of cracks and deformations of sites on which the hose, capable to cause losses of depression as a result of violation of tightness of a joint stretches.

For identification of "leak" of vacuum use a stethoscope, or - as that - a piece of a vacuum or fuel hose (with an internal diameter about 6 mm). Listen by means of a stethoscope to hoses (on all length) and their nipple connections on existence of the hissing which is a characteristic sign of "leak".

When listening vacuum hoses a stethoscope you watch to touching moving components of a motive compartment, such as a driving belt, fan blades, etc.

Fuel hoses

There are special precautionary measures which have to be undertaken when carrying out service of components of a power supply system. Work has to be performed in well ventilated room. Approach to the venue of works with the lit cigarette, is most strictly forbidden by naked flame or the carrying unprotected by the lamp shade. Incidentally spilled fuel has to gather immediately by means of rags or paper towels which have to then develop in inaccessible to fire or sources of heat the place. Check rubber fuel lines for existence of signs of wiping or aging of material. Especially check hoses for existence of cracks in places of a bend and on sites just before unions (such as on the fuel filter).

High-quality fuel lines are usually marked by the inscription Fluroelastomer printed directly on a wall of a hose and have to be applied to performing replacements. Do not try to establish the vacuum or water hoses, or transparent plastic tubes which do not have the required durability instead of fuel lines at all.

For fixing of fuel lines on unions collars of spring type are usually used. Such collars often lose the durability eventually, and at removal tend to an unexpected soskakivaniye. It will be reasonable to replace during replacement of hoses such collars with more reliable of screw (worm) type.

Metal lines

In a power supply system metal lines are often applied. Carefully check them for existence of excesses, deformations and signs of formation of cracks.

If the section of the metal line is subject to replacement, it is necessary to use for its performance only the steel tubes made on seamless technology as copper and aluminum do not provide the required durability for keeping of the vibration loadings taking place during the normal operation of the engine.

Check metal brake lines in places of connection them to the main cylinder and the block of alignment of pressure (if that is provided) upon existence of cracks or signs of weakening of nipple connections. Detection of any signs of leaks in brake lines demands immediate careful check of all brake system.
