Replacement of blocks of disk brake mechanisms

Replacement of blocks has to be made at the same time on brake mechanisms of both lobbies (or back) wheels - never change blocks of only one of brake mechanisms. Besides, it is necessary to pay attention that the dust produced by brake mechanisms in the course of their work may contain noxious to health asbestos. Do not blow off dust from surfaces of components of brake mechanisms compressed air at all and do not inhale it. It is the best of all to perform works in a protective respiratory mask. Do not use for cleaning of components of brake mechanisms solvents on an oil basis at all or gasolines - use only patent means for cleaning of brakes!

The procedure is applicable for replacement of blocks of both forward, and back disk brake mechanisms.


  1. Uncover the tank of brake fluid.
  2. Weaken nuts of fastening of forward wheels, a front of the car and establish to a poddomkratta it on props.
  3. Remove forward wheels. Work with each of brake mechanisms serially, keeping the second as a model of assembly in case of doubts in correctness of the idea of it.
  4. Carefully check a condition of a brake disk (The section Check of a State, removal and installation of a brake disk). If there is a need for carrying out machine processing, remove a disk (cm lower in this Section). At the same time there is also a possibility of extraction of blocks from a support.
  5. Push the support piston into the cylinder, having provided free space for installation of new blocks (which thickness more than at worn-out old). For performance of this task it is possible to use a clamp. At push-up of the piston liquid level in the main brake cylinder will automatically rise. You watch that it did not begin to follow too much, in case of need suck away surplus (the syringe or an enema - at all not a mouth!).
  1. By means of a big clamp push the piston into the support cylinder - notice that one of sponges of a clamp rests against the plane on the back party of a support, and second (mobile) - in an external block.
  1. Perform the procedure of change of blocks, being verified with illustrations below. Strictly observe an operations procedure and attentively get acquainted with contents of explanations to pictures.
  1. Before removal of a support remove all traces of brake dust by means of a patent cleaner.
  1. For removal of a support remove two fixing pins (the top and lower arrows); do not give a hollow bolt (the central arrow) of fastening to a support of a brake hose if you are not going to make capital repairs of a support.
  1. Remove a support; now it will be a high time to check for existence of traces of leak of liquid of a surface around a piston boot, existence of leaks speaks about need of carrying out capital repairs of a support (The section Removal, capital repairs and installation of a support of the disk brake mechanism).
  1. If no works with a support are carried out, tie up it aside a piece of a wire to a suspension bracket element - watch that the brake hose did not stretch!
  1. For extraction of an external block from a support of the brake mechanism of a forward wheel wring out ears from each of the parties of a block up, release clips of fastening of a block to a support and remove a block.
  1. For extraction from a support of an internal block take its clamp from a cavity in a piston body.
  1. Take plugs of both fixing pins and examine them on existence of traces of corrosion and wear; if any of pins it is damaged, replace it.
  1. If the boot of a pin or the plug bursts, is torn or overdried, replace it.
  1. Grease plugs with high-temperature lubricant.
  1. Install plugs into place.
  1. Before installation of new brake shoes wring out the piston in the nest in a support against the stop, having provided thereby sufficient free space for clothing of new blocks (bigger with what worn-out thickness) on a disk.
  1. Enter a clamp of an internal block into a cavity in a piston body; make sure that the clamp was reliably latched in the piston (the block has to nestle densely on the piston).
  1. Establish a new external block, having firmly pressed its ears thumbs, as shown in a picture; Make sure that the block correctly was recorded in clips.
  1. Install assembly of a support with blocks on a drive, insert fixing pins and tighten them with the required effort.
  1. At installation of a support into place tighten pins of its fastening with the required effort. Upon completion of works several times strongly squeeze out a brake pedal for shrinkage of new blocks on a disk.
  2. Before starting operation of the car, check the brake system for existence of leaks and make sure of serviceability of functioning of brakes.
