Capital repairs of the transfer case - the general information

Capital repairs of the transfer case are difficult for independent performance by the procedure. She assumes carrying out dismantling and the correct return assembly of a set of small knots and components. It is necessary to measure precisely a set of gaps and it is correct to modify them, having picked up the corresponding size adjusting washers and lock rings. Thus, if there is a need for carrying out capital repairs of the transfer case, its removal and installation can are executed by the amateur mechanic's forces whereas actually repair and restoration have to be left to specialists of car service. There is a possibility of acquisition of the restored boxes - consult at specialists of dealer office. Anyway, expenses of time and funds for repair and restoration of an old box will be quite commensurable with costs of acquisition of the restored block.

Nevertheless, it is necessary to tell that performance of capital repairs of the transfer case by forces even of the inexperienced amateur mechanic quite perhaps on condition of existence of the corresponding special tool and accurate and careful approach to performance of each of procedures when any of even the most insignificant steps is not passed.

The number of the tools necessary for performance of capital repairs of the transfer case includes flat-nose pliers for removal and installation of both internal, and external lock rings, a stripper of bearings, the hammer with sliding brisk, a set of drifts, the dial indicator of plunger type and, perhaps, a hydraulic press. Besides, existence strong, the convenient height of the workbench equipped with a vice or the stand is absolutely necessary for carrying out dismantle of transmissions.

During dismantling of the transfer case pay fixed attention to ways of installation of each of the smallest components, its situation in relation to other details and fixture type (do on the course of dismantling of a note).
